Problem
How might we make career progression legible to students — while giving employers a workflow they'd actually use?
The platform had two broken user journeys running in parallel. Students saw a wall of text instead of a path. Employers faced a long static form with no logical grouping — so they gave up mid-entry and left listings incomplete. Incomplete listings made the platform less useful for students. A classic negative loop.
Career Highways had a problem before I even opened Figma: students couldn't follow their career path through the platform, and employers found adding roles so painful they stopped updating listings. Push Studios needed a redesign shipped before the next student intake. I was the sole designer — owning the work end-to-end from competitive analysis to developer handoff.

Design decisions
Progressive disclosure resolved the tension
Students wanted clarity. Employers wanted thoroughness. I resolved this with progressive disclosure — high-level milestone cards by default, expandable detail on demand. I also broke the employer form into 4 grouped stages so they could complete it in chunks without losing progress.
